Barcalona were better

Sigh, its that same sinking feeling when you witness your supported team losing in a final against a better team. Manchester United won the Champions League last year all because of John Terry. This time, Barcalona snatched the trophy away from Old Trafford because they were the stronger team.

Today morning, 1 a.m. Kyle was at my room Facebooking, updating his blog and watching Transporter 3. An Audi A8 can surprisingly take alot of damage and still be a smooth ride. For instance in one scene, the Audi was drove off and plunge into the near lake with the driver Frank Martin (Jason Statham) in it. You see, Frank's wrist has been attached to a metal bracelet which keeps track of him. If he's 75 meters away from the car, the car will blow up.

He swam out of the car, opened the boot and managed to find a air balloon. He blows it up, and floats back the car to surface. And after a few restarts, the car works again in perfect condition, able to powerslide and go 180 mph. Sweet, book me an Audi A8.

Was waiting for the match to start. 2:30 a.m. I'm having my art exam today and yet I'm staying up late for a football final match.

1st minute, United was close to leading with Ronaldo's distant free kick being parried by Barcalona's keeper Victor Valdes. Park Ji-Sung, being the first Asian to play in a Champions League final, could have converted the rebound had not for former United defender Gerard Piqué's last-ditch tackleThen on the 10th minute, Barcalona took the lead, thanks to Eto's superb one on one effort. I have to admit it, he was the better one against Vidic. Sigh, this isn't the Vidic I know who won "Manchester United's Player's Player of the year award".

Barcalona was leading 1-0 into the first half. I thought maybe the second half would be a different game. Nah, I was wrong. I went upstairs when they were showing halftime analysis on the first half. Received a message from Manpreet. I wonder, why is it when other club supporters like Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea love to big mouth saying Manchester United don't stand a chance of going against the likes of Barcalona or AC Milan. Heck, I don't see Barcalona or AC Milan fans boasting about how great their side are compared to Manchester United's line-up. Or maybe they are just jealous that Manchester United are able to make it to the final of Europe's most toughest club competition.

I thought United will pull a attacking style like what they did against Arsenal on the 2nd leg semi-finals. United went on to go through the final with a 4-1 aggregate. Counter attack, United's best strategy against any other team. They perfected it.

Came back glued to the tv to watch the match. Kyle was half awake half sleeping. Suddenly a few minutes later, a cross from Xavi found the shortest Barcalona but deadliest among all, Messi. Dubbed Messi-ah by fans, Messi is known for his dribbles, his reading of the game and his ability to pass the ball to his team mates, which leads to a goal.

The closest Manchester United player to Messi in the penalty box was Rio Ferdinand, known for being the other half that completes United's strong defence line up (with Evra and Vidic). But this morning, Rio Ferdinand wasn't alert on Messi's presence in the penalty box.

Messi knew his jump was to short to reach the ball, so he just let the ball hit his head instead. Van Der Sar was left helpless watching Messi's header going to the top right corner of United's goal.

70th minute, Messi-ah scored for the Catalans. 2-0 up, with 20 minutes left to play.

What a chance for United to pull on back in as a cross is scuffed by Ryan Giggs with the goal at his mercy and then Cristiano Ronaldo is denied by Víctor Valdes. Kyle and I were in shocked, how can Ronaldo miss a God-given opportunity to score?! Kyle was so close to shouting the f-word out loud.

Final whistle blew, Kyle and I were dissapointed that we stayed up late, watched the whole match and in the end, seeing Manchester United being second to Barcalona. Went crawling back to bed at 4:30 a.m. Dad had to be our alarm clock, waking us up at 6:40 a.m. Yeah, he knows I and Kyle sneaked out to watch the match.
